The imposing, tacky frontage of Toto's has not changed over the years and is unlikely to. It was Melbourne's original pizza joint in the 1960s when pizza was a nouveau cuisine. Like it or hate it, "historic" Toto's is a Lygon Street landmark. Toto's interior is as large as its exterior. The vastness creates a strange, hollow ambiance. Definitely more suited to a quick stopover, than a romantic dinner date. While pizza is the specialty, other Italian bistro dishes are available. Toto's pizzas generally stick to the traditional (non-gourmet) formula. It is good to know some things stay the same!
