Pepper is a café that’s trendy without taking itself too seriously. Stainless steel and modern art mix with furniture that could well have come from a salvage yard. Locals congregate at tables under the veranda to tuck into dishes such as Smoked Salmon on Homemade Potato Latkes (AUD12.50) and Sweetcorn Hotcakes (AUD12.50). On three evenings a week, the standard menu gives way to a feast of gourmet thin-crust pizzas (AUD8). Flavors include Pancetta with Spiced Pear and Field Mushrooms with Sage.
