Perched above the Yarra River in a tract of native bushland, Fairfield Park Boathouse feels a world away from nearby suburbia. The boathouse was established in 1908 and still oozes turn-of-the-century charm, with intricate fretwork, iron lace and a veranda that wraps around its second storey. The teahouse offers old-fashioned treats, such as Devonshire Teas and cakes like Grandma used to make. Outside, a grill sizzles with breakfasts, burgers and gourmet sausages.
