As the Melbourne terminus for interstate and country services (as well as suburban lines), Spencer Street Station is often the first port of call for visitors. The building itself is more functional than beautiful, although a major renovation is planned. Lockers, luggage storage, waiting rooms and showers are among the facilities for travellers. The station is at the western end of the city and within walking distance of the Crown Entertainment Complex, Colonial Stadium and several hotels. Outside the terminal building is Melbourne’s central bus depot for country, interstate and airport services. Taxi ranks and tram stops are also nearby.
