One of the main centers of Melbourne’s Vietnamese community, Victoria Street is the place to buy Asian fruit and vegetables, clothing and dining ware. The blocks between Hoddle and Church Streets are crowded with colorful Vietnamese stores selling everything from paper lanterns and crockery to jewelry and watches. East of Church Street, a small community of Asian furniture and homewares shops has blossomed, following the success of Chinese antique furniture store Orient Express (449). A short tram ride east brings you to Victoria Gardens shopping center (corner Victoria and Burnley Streets), with over 75 shops, including Melbourne’s only IKEA. – Jo-Anne Woodward
