This thriving farmer’s market is only kilometers from city skyscrapers, but it feels like it’s tucked away in the bush. Held in the back paddocks of Collingwood Children’s Farm, the market’s 60 stalls are surrounded by gum trees and bordered by Melbourne’s Yarra River. After stocking up on produce such as cheeses, seasonal fruit, smoked meats and freshly-squeezed juices, market-goers can explore the bike and walking path which skirts the river. Younger visitors can also watch the cows being milked at 10a or feed the farm’s chickens and ducks. Admission is $2. -Jo-Anne Woodward
