WebsiteThis church, designed by Quebec architect Victor Bourgeau and built between 1870 and 1894, is an exact one-third replica of St Peter's Basilica in Rome. Set among the bleak skyscrapers of downtown, it makes a particularly striking sight. The 13 floodlit statues along its top are of Montreal's own patron saints. In the Mortuary Chapel can be found the final resting places for the city's bishops and archbishops, alongside a recumbent statue of Monseigneur Ignace Bourget, the church's founder.
