The most well-known slice of Nevis history revolves around the British Naval Admiral, Horatio Nelson, who married the widow Fanny Nisbet. The wedding took place at Montpelier House on the estate by the same name, and now a gracious plantation inn. The certificate from the birth is located at the St. John's Fig Tree Church, an Anglican church south of Charlestown.
