One of the most impressive structures you see when you disembark from the ferry or drive into town is the old Treasury Building, which is obviously in need of restoration. This stone structure has a wooden second floor with louvered windows on the overhanging balcony, and raised first-floor level. It dates to the 19th century, and now houses government offices. It should be noted that this architectural style is representative of the favoured colonial style popular during those times.
