Located in the heart of the so-called "pink triangle" on the edge of the city centre, Scotland Yard has taken over the building once occupied by the relocated Powerhouse. Powerhouse is the premier gay club in Newcastle, but Scotland Yard is definitely aiming for a broader based clientele. Completely refurbished, and with a a brand new sound and lighting system, the club still retains that cool "undergound" feel of its illustrious predecessor. Music varies from trance, techno, drum 'n' bass, to classic indie and nu-jazz. Monday is student night, when you will only be admitted with a valid NUS card. Prices vary on different nights, but range from £3.00 to £8.00.
