Every last weekend in July or first week in August, thousands of people flock to the city to listen to an array of music ranging from Scandinavian brass bands to Bolivian pipe bands. There is a different theme every year. Germany's biggest weekly paper Die Zeit recently included the Bardentreffen on its list of the top 300 events in the world. Well worth a visit. Admission is free.
