WebsiteThe Pellerhaus was once the most elegant citizen's building in the city of Nurnberg. It was built at the beginning of the 17th century in the style of the late renaissance by a merchant called Maritn Peller. At the time he was one of the richest men in Nuremberg but the fact that he was originally from the area around Lake Constance meant that all his wealth could not secure him a place on the city council. At the end of World War II, the building was almost entirely destroyed but a visit to the Town Museum (Stadtmuseum im Fembohaus), where some of the original furniture and rooms (such as the 'Beautiful Room') have been reconstructed hint at its former glory. You can still admire the stunning courtyard and its Apollo Well when the City Archives, which are now kept at the site, are open. The courtyard can be viewed when the City Archive is open.
