Website | EmailThis is no doubt one of Europe's most beautifully landscaped zoos. It dates from 1939 and is home to over 2000 different species. The philosophy behind the zoo is to educate the general public about the nature's diversity whilst working against the clock to improve the situation of endangered species. The surroundings in which the animals live are meant to give them as much freedom as possible in captivity and as a result many of the enclosures are not surrounded by colossal gates. The zoological garden's dolphin house is very popular and shows are held here on a daily basis.Important Information:Please note that dogs cannot be admitted into the area.You can also participate in a guided tour (approx. 2 hours) of the zoo at weekends.
