WebsiteThe main interest of this small theatre company (founded in 1979) is cabaret, but their annual programme of events also incorporates fringe, comedy, alternative music and sometimes even poetry readings. The Burgtheater members do not put on performances themselves, they merely arrange those that are to take place in their venue. Such was the scale of popularity when the theatre first opened that it could only reside in its original premises in the historic Weißgerbergasse for two years (1982-1984).Since 1984, the two-week festival Nuremberg Cabaret Days ( Nürnberger Kabarett-Tage) has been held here. Today, it is considered one of the most renowned events of its kind in Germany. The festival's highlight is the presentation of the coveted German Cabaret Prize. The programme of events during this period is forward-thinking in that it allows both well-known artists and newcomers to take part.Ticket prices start at (EUR 9), depending on the performance.
