This structure was built by Dr. Evans Cottman, an American physician who journeyed to the Out Islands to bring modern medical care to the people. His yellow-turreted castle still stands today on a hill just to the east of Marsh Harbour. The good doctor would make house calls throughout the islands until his death in 1976. Today, the castle is the home of Cottman’s daughter who runs the gift shop and welcomes visitors to her home.
