WebsiteThis major event isn't held in Oxford but many students and rowing fans head down to the capital for one of the most important dates in the Oxford University calendar. The Oxford versus Cambridge Boat Race has been held since 1829 and it's always a keenly contested event between these two ancient English universities. The race starts at Putney Bridge and finishes four miles down the river at Mortlake. If the weather's good, this is a fun day out. If it's a close race, it's even better.
