Website | EmailThe Maison des Cultures du Monde was created in 1982 in response to the problem of cultural colonialism; centers of information about France existing all over the world had no unified counterpart in France to share the practices and knowledge belonging to other parts of the world. It has developed into a place of discovery and exchange with a philosophy based around enrichment through differences and attaining universal comprehension through self-exploration. Performances, traditions, and celebrations from abroad, international conferences and debates, festivals, art exhibits, and any relevant form of entertainment and research animate the Maison des Cultures du Monde. The association also plays a critical role in the preservation and documentation of valuable knowledge in print, digital media, and the creation of informational networks for social and academic purposes.
