Kings Square tends to be known as the centre of Fremantle. Named in 1833, the square emerged as an important administrative centre. Enjoy the old - the Morton Bay Fig trees, Saint Johns Church and the Town Hall, and the new--the Town Hall Centre (home to the Fremantle council, library and Fremantle Tourist Bureau), a life-size chess set and outdoor artworks. A tram service departs from the square (on the hour) touring Fremantle's significant landmarks.
