Website | EmailVisit this significant heritage site located on Mount Eliza (opposite Parliament House). The Old Observatory, a beautiful old brick and wood building, contains a number of interesting interior features. It was built in 1897 as an office and residence for Perth's first astronomer. In the 1960s, the observatory section was dismantled when a new one was built in the Perth hills. The Old Observatory is now home to the Western Australian branch of the National Trust.
