Traditionally, Cambodia's November winds signal the end of wet season and to celebrate, people fly kites. Every year, Phnom Penh hosts the Annual Cambodian Kite Flying Competition. Cambodia is famous for its unique kleang ek kites, which produce "music" as they fly. A bamboo and rattan bow is used at the front of the kite. Khmer kites are spectacularly large being up to 15 feet long and six or seven feet wide, and are made of painted silk or paper. Kite makers from many provinces come to compete in this amazing spectacle at Hun Sen Park near the banks of the Tonle Bassac River.
