Website | EmailAn estimated 2 million people were killed by the Khmer Rouge or the Communist Party of Kampuchea during their brutal regime of extreme social re-engineering between 1975 and 1979. The Documentation Center records this very dark part of Cambodia's history. Established in 1994, its objective is 'promotion of memory and justice' to facilitate 'true national reconciliation'. The center maintains an extensive archive of thousands of documents and photographs of the Khmer Rouge-era. They are mandated to carry out research on the atrocities committed by Pol Pot and his party to serve as a reminder for future generations.
