The team is currently led by Cynthia Cooper of Houston, who previously let the Houston Comets to four WNBA championships. While women's basketball actually dates back to 1892, the WNBA got its start in 1997, and if the fans keep up their spectacular support, it is sure to have a bright future in the new millennium.
