WebsiteSpanning the Willamette River, this old, red bridge connects downtown's Pearl District to the Northeast's Rose Quarter. A pedestrian and bicycle-friendly bridge, it offers a clear view of the Fremont Bridge and Union Station. Stop midway and enjoy scenic sights up and down the river. You can even see Mt. Hood from some spots. This bascule bridge opened for traffic in 1913 and is the seventh longest of its type in the world. The bridge uses counterweights to raise its midsection for passing ships.
