By Sea
Passenger cruise lines are also available to those who wish to enter the country by sea. Though there is no fixed schedule of these cruises, it is advisable to get in touch with the travel agents for information.

Smyril Line is a passenger liner that operates weekly from Denmark and Norway to Faroe Islands in East Iceland.

Eimskip was originally built for cargo but has facilities for ferrying passengers and sails from Reykjavik to Faroe Islands and neighboring cities of Hamburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Aarhus.

By Bus
Strætó is the main provider of bus transport in downtown Rekyavik and its municipalities. The buses run throughout the week at an interval of 20 minutes. The bus drivers are not allowed to tender change, so make sure to carry enough coins. By a Rekjavik Tourist Card, which grants free admission in a number of places and also doubles as a bus ticket within the Greater Reykjavik area.

Car Rental
Driving in Reykjavik is always enjoyable, as the roads are free and the density of vehicular traffic is less. Car rentals, however, are a huge turnoff as prices are steep and include 24% VAT. Metered parking is available at most places and multi-storeyed parking lots are available. Foreign licenses are accepted.

Moving from one place to another on bicycles is popular in Reykjavik. Locals and tourists are frequently seen cycling around on the roads and sidewalks, for which bike lanes are available. Bikes can be rented from various rentals in the city.
