As international cuisine began to mark its presence in Icelandic taste buds, and culinary discrimination increased, so did also the need for the old reliable places like Lauga-ás. Located for almost twenty years in the green area of Laugardalur, this small, unassuming restaurant has gone from strength to strength, and is today recognised as one of Reykjavík's best. At the same time Laugardalur park has continued to develop into a comprehensive outdoor leisure area, with its famously beautiful swimming pool, sports hall and stadium, farm animal zoo, botanical garden and a landscaped Family Amusement Park. The menu is international and Icelandic, with emphasis on seafood, at very moderate prices.
