Website | EmailRestaurant Einar Ben is named after one of Iceland's most (in)famous enterprisers and poets, Einar Benediktsson (who among other things wanted to build a power plant beside tourist favourite Gullfoss waterfall). It is located centrally by Ingólfstorg in one of Reykjavík's older buildings. This new and hip restaurant has chosen decor to suit the building's age, combining old fashioned furnishing and art by some of Iceland's best young artists. The menu offers the usual variety of international cuisine and Icelandic specialties, but beside mainstream meals there are more interesting dishes such as whale, seabirds, sashimi and horse mussels. No one would accuse restaurant Einar Ben of being politically or environmentally correct. This restaurant actually serves whale meat and other exotic sea birds. Yes. You heard correctly, whale meat. If you are sensitive to the plight of these magnificent creatures then Einar Ben is not for you.
