A renowned seafood restaurant, Við Tjörnina continues to please the palate in a relaxed atmosphere and homely surrounding. Situated smack in the centre, between rivals Skólabrú and Iðnó, beside the tiny Cathedral and facing the Parliament house, the place also contains a little guided tour in itself. After dinner it is ideal to take a little walk to the pond and feed the ducks and swans some bread. Or just cool off from the warmth of the coffee, after a visit to the little cognac room, decorated with old photographs and crowded with antique chairs and sofas. While focusing on fish and Icelandic specialities, the menu also offers meat. The sashimi starter is not to be missed.
