Website | EmailEvery year in October the sleepy little village of Hallein, located some 10km south of Salzburg, is invaded by thousands of revelers. Founded in 1988, the Hallein International Folk Festival is now the biggest event of its kind in the country. Not all festival-goers are folk music aficionados though, and plenty of people are just here for a good time. The festival attracts folk bands from all over Europe including the likes of Portuguese brass bands, Gypsy singers, Irish folk groups and Bavarian oompah bands.
