Website | EmailThis World Cup snowboarding event normally takes place over the first weekend in January, in Bad Gastein, which is about 90 minutes south of Salzburg by train. Sunday features the parallel slalom race and Monday moves on to the exhilarating boardercross, in which a dozen snowboarders hurl themselves down a course of jumps, bobsled-style turns and compression bumps. Those unable to make the trip, however, can enjoy the Big Air Competition in Salzburg proper on Saturday night. Admission prices are set in autumn.
