Cafe Bazar is, along with Café Tomaselli, a classic Viennese coffeehouse. In the summer months, the combination of its wonderful terrace and its spectacular location on the banks of Salzach River mean brisk business for this cafe - it can be a bit of a challenge to get a seat. Yet in winter as well as summer, this elegant, spacious, high-ceilinged coffeehouse is a haunt of students, actors, celebrities, shoppers, Salzburg's elderly and the city's intellectuals. Naturally, a huge range of national and international newspapers are available daily. If the waiter is in some way unfriendly, relax, it's part of the experience.
