South Park was constructed in 1855, by George Gordon an English entrepreneur. The oval shaped park is at the center of a residential area with mansions and town houses surrounding it. It has a windmill in the center which pumps water for the houses around it. South Park was the first park in San Francisco having paved streets and sidewalks.
