Teatro Cacilda Becker of Sao Paulo has been named for and founded by one of the most influential figures in theater. Cacilda Becker created this theater to provide for freedom of artistic expression. It was an opportunity to allow theater artistes to break away from the restraints of sponsorship and censorship. As a result of this policy, Teatro Cacilda Becker has witnessed some splendid and dynamic performances that are hard to find elsewhere in the city. It forms an important part of the cultural heritage of Sao Paulo.
