By Air

There are several transit services that provide transportation from the New Chitose Airport to Sapporo and destinations throughout Hokkaido. JR Hokkaido (http://www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/menu.html) offers a direct route between the airport and downtown Sapporo. Bus services are available on the Hokkaido Chuo bus line (+81 011 231 0500) or the Hokuto Kotsu bus line (+81 011 377 3855). Taxis are located outside the terminal. Be advised that services available in English are limited and visitors should plan accordingly.

By Train

Sapporo is serviced by JR Hokkaido (http://www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/menu.html), which offers a number of local and express services.

By Bus

JR Hokkaido Bus (http://www.jrhokkaidobus.com/index1.html) offers transportation to destinations throughout Japan. Hokkaido Chuo Bus and Jotetsu Bus also provide transportation to local and national destinations. By Car

Sapporo is accessible by Route 36. Driving conditions during winter months are often hazardous, so car rental is not advisable.

Getting Around

Sapporo is service by a comprehensive system of public transit options. The city's three subway lines Tozai-sen, Nanpoku-sen, and Toho-sen offer highly efficient service. Bus transit is available on Shiei Bus (City Bus). From the end of April to the beginning of November the Sapporo Lincle Bus (+81 011 231 0500) provides a bus tour of the city.
