Exhibits tell the story of the city, from the 1800s to the present. You can even take a walk through a display of the streets of old Seattle and relive the Great Seattle Fire. Other exhibits include Boomtown Seattle during the Klondike Gold Rush, A Change of Worlds, the vanishing race of the Puget Sound Indian peoples, Maritime History and late 19th- and early 20th-century quilts. The museum also houses a huge collection of Pacific Northwest historical materials, with more than 800,000 books, manuscripts, maps and photographs about the region in its archives.
