The huge glass fan-shaped building anchoring the growing Channelside district in downtown Tampa is the Ice Palace, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team. Built in 1986, the Palace features 80 luxury suites and two party suites and holds around 20,000 people for hockey and concerts. The outer walkways are lined with a variety of food vendors, offering more than standard arena fare of popcorn and beer. Numerous small bars are within walking distance.
