EmailA hugely popular event in Trinidad, the Parang Festival is one of the local events not to be missed. A traditionally folk music festival sung in Spanish Creole, it attracts very large crowds mostly to the towns of Paramin and Arima in the East of Trinidad. The Festival celebrates the Spanish influence of Christmas songs as the sound of mandolin, cuatro, box bass and of course Spanish lyrics fill the air. The seasonal delights like pastelles, paymes, arepas (all foods which reflect the country's Venezuelan influence) and empanadas, to boiled corn and cow-heel soup are on hand for the hungry.
