WebsiteThe fighting between the Moors and the Christians lasted several centuries in Valencia. Fortunately, the only thing that remains today from these bloody battles is what has been converted into a festival celebrating the victory of the Christians over the Moors in the 13th Century. Towns such as Alcoy, Bocairent and Ontinyent are the most well-known for this particular tradition. The marches are organized locally and feature an authentic explosion of color and magnificence in terms of costumes, especially those of the Moorish troops. Takes place annually on the Friday of the last week of August. Transport: Trains to any of the above towns from the Estación del Norte station in Valencia.
