The VIENNALE, Austria's international film festival, takes place in Vienna every October. The primary focus is placed upon independent international cinema of all genres, from experimental avant-garde films to controversial documentaries. The main program consists of more than 150 features, documentaries and short films from all over the world shown in various cinemas in Vienna's historic center. A complete schedule and ticket information is made available in September; there are usually tickets available on the day of the shows.
