WebsiteThe foreign policy of the United States is developed in the rooms of the Department of State building. Of particular interest are the Diplomatic Reception Rooms on the top floor, which are used to entertain heads of state and foreign diplomats. The furnishings include the desk on which the Treaty of Paris was signed and a Paul Revere bowl. It is best to register for a tour in advance. Reservations for summer tours should be made at least three months ahead of a visit. Admission is free.
