This garden has the look and feel of a memorial, rather than a place to skip down tree-lined paths and muse about the beauty of nature and whisper sweet nothings into loved one's ears. Founded in 1950 by local philanthropist, Mr. Tan Kahkee, the Jimei Liberation Monument centers the park. It is surrounded by detailed Hui'an style carvings. Designed to extol the sacrifices of those who fought against invading Japanese soldiers, the monument features inspirational inscriptions by Mao Zedong and Kahkee himself. The park also houses Kahkee's tomb.
