The pulse of Xiamen pumps non-stop along this main road; the busiest in the city. A kaleidoscope of architectural styles lines both sides, exhibiting German, British and classic Chinese influences. Restaurants, ranging from fine dining to western fast food, are seemingly endless, as are stores selling souvenirs, clothing, music, books and local art. The road spills into the harbor area that provides ferry access to Gulangyu Island. There is no better location in Xiamen for getting a true feel of the city.
