No other area symbolizes Xiamen’s commitment to the future more than its airport. Opened in 1996, it ranks as the fourth largest airport in China, averaging 380 flights per week. Twenty-two airlines dock on its runway servicing 52 domestic and international destinations including Manila, Singapore, and Jakarta. Besides all of the usual modern amenities there is next door lodging at the International Airport Hotel. Downtown is but 10 minutes away and can be easily reached by a large fleet of taxis and shuttle buses.
