Website | EmailYork is the birthplace of artist William Etty, famous for his nudes. Etty's works are a large part of this museum's permanent collection. Also permanently on display are works by Parmigianino, Bellotto, Lely, Reynolds, Frith, Boudin, Lowry and Nash. In a separate room on the first floor, a collection of pioneer studio pottery is on display, featuring ceramics by Staite Murray, Leach and Hamada, with contemporary work continuously being added to the collection. Ongoing exhibitions and special displays are periodically scheduled throughout the year; call or check the Web site for details. Admission is free.
