Website | EmailStanding in the lovely Museum Gardens is the York Observatory. It was built between 1831 and 1833 and has recently been restored. Entrance to the Observatory is by appointment only during the months between December and February, on Thursdays between 6 and 8p and it also opens on very special occasions. Its well worth a visit as it contains the 1850 Thomas Cooke telescope and also an exhibition, which examines the history of observatory and scientific instruments. Please call to obtain more details.
