Website | EmailHoused in an impressive Neo-Classical castle built in 1826, the National Museum details Swiss history from prehistoric times, through the Roman era, right up to the present. A sprawling collection of arms and weapons puts the modern Swiss army knife to shame. You can also find a model of the Battle of Morat, along with frequent special exhibitions tackling various aspects of Swiss history, art and culture. If you're not that much into history, a relaxing stroll around the picturesque museum's sprawling gardens is still worth a visit. The museum is Switzerland's first building constructed out of concrete. Admission: Free for permanent exhibition
