Website | EmailApart from classical performances in the large hall, Zürich's main theatre, the Schauspielhaus, also has a smaller stage where it puts on more modern plays. The Schauspielhaus was built in 1888 and 1889 and is Switzerland's largest theatrical stage. It has a budget of staggering CHF 33 million at its disposal and puts on around 14 new productions each year. As a special service, public transport to and from the theatre is free on the day of the performance if you show your ticket or subscription.
